The first UK mainland Just Pizza & Pasta will be mine. Could the second be yours?

I’m opening our first company-owned Just Pizza & Pasta restaurant on the UK mainland

The last couple of months have been exceptionally busy at my restaurant in Douglas on the Isle of Man, but the place has been consistently popular for a long time. Week after week, we’re filling every table, and this is in a small town of fewer than 30,000 people. We’re talking 1000s of happy guests every month, strong profit margins, and a great mix of both new visitors and loyal customers who come back again and again.

Imagine what a business like this could do in a large town or city with access to 10 or a 100 times that many local residents.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about recently, which is why I have decided to do it myself first.

So, here’s where I wanted to ask for your help

I’m actively searching for the right site in the right town. Specifically, I’m looking at:

• Welwyn Garden City
• Tynemouth
• Crosby (Sefton)
• Kingswinford
• Halesowen
• Bonnyrigg / Dalkeith

What I’m looking for is specific, but realistic. I’d like somewhere around 2,500–3,000 sq ft, maybe 50–100 yards off the high street. A place with strong footfall, but without premium rents, though it does need to be easy to access and with parking nearby. I’m thinking empty shops, former garages or workshops, small warehouses or trade units. Places with good bones that can be transformed into something special.

If you, or anyone you know, live or work in those areas, have you seen a place which would work well as the newest Just Pizza & Pasta? If so, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.

When I find the right site, I’ll be building it myself, funding it myself, and running it myself

More than that, I love it – running a restaurant always means working hard, but the rewards have been just as great. I’ve spent years refining Just Pizza & Pasta, and now it’s the best it’s ever been, and it’s time to make my move.
